Can I buy my gear after my demo reservation is complete?
Yes. Our goal is to help you find the right gear and when that happens, you can purchase it directly from us. You will receive a notification at the end of your demo reservation that provides you with two options --- return your demo gear or purchase your gear. A purchase price will be included in this notification. Should you wish to purchase, it’s as simple as choosing the purchase option and agreeing to the purchase price. We will charge your credit card for the balance of the gear purchase price and the gear is yours.
If I choose to buy my demo gear, do I get credit for the demo fee I’ve already paid?
Yes, the purchase price we will offer you at the end of your reservation takes into consideration the amount paid to demo the gear.
Is the gear brand new for each reservation or has it been previously demo’d?
MTN Gear works hard to provide gear in exceptional condition. In some cases the gear may be new, with original product tags attached. In other cases the gear may have been previously demo’d. After each use, returned gear is inspected, cleaned and made ready for the next reservation.
How does MTN Gear maintain and clean gear? What condition will the gear be in if it has been worn previously?
As gear is demo’d and returned by clients, it is carefully inspected for damage and signs of normal wear and tear. If it shows extensive use wear or damage, we remove it from inventory. We employ a cleaning process that is matched to each manufacturer’s specifications before putting gear back into inventory for future use. We use a broad range of NikWax cleaning and waterproofing products to ensure each garment is thoroughly prepared before sending out on its next mission.
How does shipping work? How do I return the gear at the end of my reservation?
Once reserved, gear is shipped to the address provided, postage paid. Inside the package will be a postage paid return Tyvek envelope to put the used gear in and drop at the nearest shipping location. Please see our Shipping and Return Policy for full details.
Is it possible to have my gear delivered directly to my ski destination lodging address?
Yes. If provided a complete shipping address, inclusive of contact name and phone number, you can request your gear be sent directly to the destination. Please note that the postage paid return envelope should be sent from the same location. Please see our Shipping and Return Policy for further detail.
Are the jackets and pants that MTN Gear provided insulated? Do I need to wear additional clothing underneath the provided pants or jackets?
Please refer to our Layering guide to find more information about dressing for mountain and outdoor activities. Many of the shell jackets and pants that we demo are non-insulated, which means proper base and mid layers will need to be worn.
What if I need to cancel my reservation?
Cancellations seven days or more in advance of your “first day of use” (as indicated on the original order) will be fully refunded. We cannot offer cancellations within seven days of your “first day of use”. Please see our Shipping and Returns Policy, or our Terms and Conditions for further detail.
What happens if damage occurs to the gear during my reservation?
Depending on the extent of the damage, you may be responsible for all of part of the retail purchase price. We understand that normal wear of the garment, including scuffs and non-permanent stains will occur during a typical day of outdoor use. However, non-normal wear such as tears, permanent staining and other conditions that make the garment unwearable are not considered acceptable use of gear. MTN Gear will work with customers on a case by case basis if it is determined that a garment has suffered non-normal wear and tear.
